This is my personal opinion getting from basic information to protect equipment from lightning surge.
Rating of Circuit breaker will be selected by max current of PV panels and it wil does not work when generation of PV panel is very low current condition, such a rainy days. SPD may have damage by lighting strik such condition and it have to disconnect circuit in case of short condiotn of SPD.
Outside and internal disconectorSPD
Generaion power of PV panel changes 0%〜100% depending upon weather condition.
For example, Max current of a system is 100A. Rating of circuit breaker will be selected based on this information. However
generated current will be 10A or so, in raniy days. SPD have to protect circuit by itself if SPD has damage by lightining current.
European Norm(European Standards)
EN 50539-11 is standard of SPD for PV applications. This requires SCCR: Short Circuit Current Rating of SPD, so that SPD can cut circuit by itself. We strongly recomed to check SCCR spec of SPD for PV allication.
Again contents in this Web site is my Personal Opnion. I did my best for the contents of this site, but may have some mistakes. We applogize if such things happen. Please remember that we will Not Take Any Resposibilties, even if you take countermeasures for lighting surge following on this contents and have any damage directly on your equipment and/or some other seconday damages. Please do any lightning protection based on your own resposibilty.
